Rei Funakoshi Anderson is a Financial Professional with New York Life and a Registered Representative with NYLIFE Securities LLC. With a background in economics, Rei has always been interested in understanding how financial decisions fit into the bigger picture. She believes there is rarely one decision that exists on its own—every choice comes with trade-offs, and what makes sense for one person may look completely different for another.
Education is a big part of how Rei works with her clients. She believes people should know what their options are and understand the reasoning behind their financial decisions, rather than simply being told what to do. Her work includes protection planning, retirement, investments, and helping individuals and families think through how the different pieces of their financial lives work together.
Rei earned her B.A. in Economics from the University of Washington and holds the FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 registrations. She is also licensed in life and health insurance. Having grown up in Japan, Rei is bilingual in Japanese and English and has also studied Chinese and Korean. Being part of different cultures and communities has played a big role in both her personal and professional life.
Outside of work, Rei stays involved in her community through organizing fundraising efforts for individuals and families during times of need. She has also played the violin for more than a decade and performs at weddings, events, and other special occasions.
Whether it’s finances, music, or her own life, Rei believes in doing things with intention and continuing to learn along the way. It’s a mindset she brings to her work and to the relationships she builds with the people around her.
